How it works

The service is primarily online. You provide the relevant information and, where necessary, we discuss the situation in a focused way. A visit on board or at a location can be agreed when it adds substantive value and is practically possible.

  1. 1

    Choose a service

Select the service that best matches your question. If you are unsure, choose the closest option; during intake we check whether that choice is suitable.

  2. 2

    Describe the situation

Describe the situation and desired outcome and, where needed, provide documents, photographs or other relevant information. If your organisation does not fully know shipboard practice, input from the master, crew or relevant employees can be included.

  3. 3

    Confirm approach & price

For standard services, scope and price are known in advance. If your question is broader or different, no extra work is carried out automatically: the appropriate approach and price are agreed first.

  4. 4

    Practical, substantiated advice

You receive a written conclusion with the main conditions, relevant source references and a practical translation into shipboard practice and your organisation’s actual working method.

Online by default

Many questions, documents and procedures can be assessed effectively from supplied information, photographs and an online meeting. This keeps the service efficient and enables quick substantive coordination.

Site visit by agreement

A visit on board or at a location is not a standard element of the service, but can be agreed where direct observation or discussion with the people doing the work adds value.

Release of advice

Advice passes through draft, reviewed and finally released states. Only a finally released advice document carries the digital safety-adviser release block. If a released document is changed, it becomes a new document version that must be released again.
